It doesn't matter whether you are a man or a woman. It is very difficult to provide for, look after and take care of a child on your own. There is no person who, in the period of fatigue and emotional burnout, will lend you a helping hand and give you time to recover your strength.

Single parents are forced to continue fulfilling their responsibilities, no matter what. They have to worry about providing for their children, take care of their psychological and physical health, worry about the consequences of divorce, etc.

Many moms and dads who are raising children alone are worried about how to explain to the child why there is no second parent nearby. The absence of one will not make the child worse. It is important to provide him with care, warmth, love, support and basic needs. Even in complete families, many children may lack one of the listed factors.

Another key problem of single parenthood is overwork. And not only physical, but also emotional - when the day is not set, the children have worn out all their nerves or they are simply not in the mood. The lack of emotional support affects upbringing. Often, single parents have no one to consult regarding methods of training and communication with their child. It's good that technological progress allows you to find friends with similar situations online.

It will not be superfluous to use the help of a psychologist and a pediatrician. Many give consultations online, so you can easily get the information you need without leaving your home. Or visit our site more often, because here we share expert advice on caring for and raising children.

Just don't be afraid to ask for help and live according to the following commandments!

10 commandments for single parents

  1. Think about yourself. Children have only you, so take care of yourself and your health.
  2. Try not to worry about everything in the world. Focus on key tasks.
  3. Don't let the guilt consume you. You won't be able to get rid of it completely, but you are doing everything in your power. Remember this!
  4. Find a support group. These may be neighbors with children, girlfriends, friends on social networks. Everyone needs support and an opportunity to talk, so there should be no problems with finding like-minded people!
  5. Come to terms with your situation. Yes, you are a single mom/single dad, but there is nothing shameful about that. You can handle everything!
  6. You also have the right to free time. Yes, you don't have as much ego as both parents have. You can't do anything about it. But you can always find a way out of the situation! If funds allow, you can periodically hire a nanny so that at least a few hours a week can be allocated exclusively to yourself. There is even a "Municipal Nanny" program that allows you to return the money spent.
  7. Spend time with children. Single parents have to work a lot, but spending time with children is also important, because you are one team.
  8. Believe in yourself. According to research, the calmer and more confident the parent is, the happier the child is. Therefore, try to stay confident and be close.
  9. Believe in your children. Support them, guide and help them. Do not stop believing that they will definitely find their way in life.
  10. Get rid of thoughts about lack of money. Children have many needs, but even two parents cannot always satisfy them. Give children the most important thing - care, warmth, support, new emotions and love. And everything else is a lucrative business. And don't hesitate to use state programs to help children.
