Ukrainian women who work or run a business have the right to receive sick leave due to pregnancy and childbirth. Such assistance is granted on the basis of a medical report and a certificate of incapacity for work.
Who can receive maternity benefits?
- work under an employment contract, gig contract, civil law contract, etc.;
- hold elected positions in the bodies of state power and local self-government,
- entrepreneurs and those who carry out independent professional activities.

How many calendar days of leave due to pregnancy and childbirth are paid?
- 126 calendar days (70 days before childbirth and 56 after),
- 140 calendar days (70 days before childbirth and 70 after) in the case of the birth of two or more children and in the case of complicated childbirth;
- 180 calendar days (90 before childbirth and 90 after) for women affected by the Chernobyl disaster.
