Directors Ekaterina Gornostay and Nikon Romanchenko became parents

On the eve of the world premiere of the Ukrainian documentary film "The Tape of Time" at the Berlin International Film Festival, Ekaterina Gornostay and Nikon Romanchenko had a son.The director shared the good news:

“Our baby, who was expected a few weeks after the Berlinale, decided to join us at the festival last night, just in time for tomorrow's ARROW OF TIME premiere.We are healthy, full of joy and a little tired.Pregnancy during the final stage of work on «ARROW OF TIME« changed my perception of children, about whom the film is about. I am sure that later there will be many opportunities to discuss my film when the right time comes."

Ekaterina's partner, Nikon Romanchenko, is the editing director of the film "ARROW OF TIME".

"Working on the tape, Ekaterina and I wanted to emphasize the continuation of life despite the difficult times", - added Nikon Romanchenko.

THE ARROW OF TIME is a documentary film about teachers and students who continue to teach and learn during military operations, in particular in the de-occupied and front-line territories. This is the first film by a Ukrainian director since 1997 to be included in the main competition program of the 75th Berlin International Film Festival — the last time it was Kira Muratova's film "Three Stories". Ekaterina Ernostay's full-length documentary will compete for the main prize — «Golden bear«. In addition, "Lenta Vremy" is a contender for the Documentary Award of the Berlin Film Festival.The film was shot in liberated locations adjacent to the front line in Ukraine during 2023-2024. The idea of ​​a film about education during the war was proposed by the OSVYTORIA public union, which acted as executive producer. The film was produced by 2BRAVE PRODUCTIONS. The co-producers of the film were Francois Le Gaulle and Marion Gut from the a_BAHN film company (Luxembourg), Rinske Raap from RINKEL DOCS (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) and Victor Ede from CINEPHAGE PRODUCTIONS (Marseilles, France).The Berlin International Film Festival will last until February 23, and the names of the winners will be announced the day before the end of the festival.
