The danger of frozen reservoirs: rules of conduct from the State Emergency Service

Frosty snowy weather is a time for winter fun. To keep them safe, follow these rules of behavior if you are near a frozen body of water. And especially — familiarize the children with them!
In order to prevent accidents on frozen rivers and lakes, State Service of Ukraine for Emergency Situations urges not to go out on the ice and to warn his children against it.
Subzero temperatures do not guarantee the safety of staying on frozen bodies of water! The most dangerous ice is the first and last, because such ice is still very thin, fragile and cannot withstand the weight of even a small child.

Basic rules of behavior near frozen reservoirs:
- do not go out on ice, especially white, with frozen grass and branches - it is the most fragile;

- Areas with fast currents, springs and warm sewage are considered dangerous;
- don't kick your feet on the ice to test your ego strength;

- if you stepped onto the ice and felt that it was unstable, carefully walk back the same way.
- If you see someone in danger, call an adult and call 101.

Watch the video together with the children and talk about the important rules of behavior near frozen bodies of water.
Since the beginning of the year, 22 people have drowned in Ukraine. Emergency workers managed to save 25 people, including one child. Be careful and take care of your safety and that of your children!
