7 symptoms of bladder inflammation in women

Content
ToggleCystitis is one of the most popular diseases among women. And most often we encounter it in the fall. How to avoid inflammation of the bladder, can it really occur due to banal hypothermia? And how to treat cystitis, if it was not possible to protect yourself? Is it possible to treat cystitis at home and in what way - all answers are in our material.

Cystitis is an inflammation of the bladder. In the course of the pathological process, for one reason or another (infectious agents, chemical and traumatic injuries), inflammation of the mucous membrane of the bladder occurs.

Types of cystitis
The type of disease depends on how it should be treated. Therefore, the first thing to do is to determine the nature of the inflammation. Based on the type of pathogen, cystitis is divided into:
- bacterial cystitis (chlamydia, ureaplasma, gonorrhea, other pathogens of venereal diseases, as well as staphylococci, streptococci, Escherichia coli and others),
- nonbacterial cystitis (toxic, caused by medication, allergies, etc.).
According to the course of the disease:
- acute cystitis (occurring in the acute phase with the manifestation of typical symptoms),
- chronic or relapsing (proceeds in a latent form - smoothed symptoms, less severe manifestations, periodic recurrence).
Depending on the presence and type of organic (morphological) changes in the organ, cystitis can be:
- ulcerative,
- catarrhal,
- cystic, etc.
Based on the localization of the pathological process, cystitis of the mucous membrane of the bladder, which affects the submucosal layer, and cystitis, which affects the muscular layer, are distinguished.

Causes of cystitis
- The main cause of inflammation is hypothermia. If at the end of autumn you demonstrated fashionable bows in thin tights and short skirts, you risk being exposed to a seasonal exacerbation of cystitis.
- Chronic gynecological diseases - our genitourinary organs are closely related, and therefore often "sick collectively."
- Non-observance of the rules of hygiene of intimate life - bacteria that get inside are harmless to the genitals, but can cause cystitis.
- By the way, the disease often starts together with the beginning of sexual life: if the microflora of a girl's vagina is disturbed, inflammation develops immediately after intercourse (there is even a term "honeymoon cystitis").
- During this difficult period for the female body, the hormonal background changes, the protective forces decrease, which means that the road to inflammatory diseases is open.
- Violation of immunity, arising on the background of some diseases (diabetes mellitus, thyroid gland dysfunction, obesity), as well as on the background of heavy physical and mental stress.
- Long-term use of certain medications, chronic constipation and a sedentary lifestyle.
- Allergy - the main culprits here are hygiene products from pads to intimate gels, although in some women, in rare cases, an allergic reaction to latex can develop, which can also provoke cystitis.

Symptoms of cystitis
Symptoms of cystitis can vary from acute symptoms to moderate, barely noticeable discomfort. Here, everything depends on many factors, namely, immunity, concomitant diseases, the presence of a chronic form of inflammation of the urinary bladder. Usually, women who encounter cystitis for the first time have more acute manifestations. Typical symptoms are:
- Mild pain in the pubic area.
- Frequent urges to urinate accompanied by pain, burning or itching.
- Urine is released in small portions, has a cloudy color, and may even contain blood.
- Pain (cutting) at the end of urination, sometimes "dagger" (piercing) pain radiating into the rectum.
- Impurity of blood in the urine (in some cases, the blood is noticeable only on toilet paper, sometimes the urine completely acquires a brown shade, sometimes only a laboratory analysis can detect foreign impurities in the blood).
- Discomfort or aching pains in the lower abdomen.
- Subfebrile or even higher body temperature (mainly this is a threatening symptom. In this form, cystitis can go "ascending" and even develop into pyelonephritis - inflammation of the kidneys - so you need to see a doctor immediately).
If at least 2-3 symptoms from the above list are found, cystitis can be suspected.

How to treat cystitis
If you have symptoms of cystitis, consult a urologist. Self-medication can slightly reduce unpleasant sensations, but will not eliminate the disease completely.
Cystitis is a disease that is very important to cure to the end, because this disease very often turns into a chronic form.
- Antispasmodic agents are recommended to reduce pain.
- And for the fight against infection and inflammation, uroantiseptic and, if necessary, antibacterial agents are selected.
- It is also often necessary to observe bed rest, drink more and adhere to a diet.
- To treat cystitis, infusions of diuretic herbs (kidney tea, pol-pala, toloknyanka), cranberry juice, non-concentrated compotes and clean water without gas are prescribed.

In recent years, drugs from their group of fluoroquinolones - for example, ciprofloxacin, and nitrofurans - have proven their effectiveness. Reception of these antibiotics is possible only on the direct prescription of a specialist.
Antibiotic therapy makes sense only if laboratory analyzes have confirmed that the cause of cystitis is pathogenic bacteria.
If, according to the results of the diagnosis, specific pathogens are identified, appropriate antifungal, antimicrobial, or antiviral drugs are prescribed. But choosing a drug on your own will not work, even if you are sure of the cause of the disease. After all, the next step is to determine which group of antibiotics the pathogen is sensitive to. Only after such a test can the doctor competently choose the drug. Antispasmodics and analgesics are recommended to eliminate severe pain syndrome. If there is no allergy to medicinal herbs, it is allowed to take phytoteas based on lingonberry, horsetail, and gorse. Unpackaged means should be preferred. To quickly remove toxins from the body, it is recommended to increase the daily volume of liquid consumption.

Important advice of doctors on the treatment of cystitis

- Do not self-medicate. Even if you know a drug that helped cure cystitis last time, it is better to start the fight against the disease with a visit to your doctor.
- For the effective treatment of cystitis, it is extremely important to understand the cause of the appearance of the ego. Often it is difficult to do it yourself - for example, not all women know that cystitis does not appear only when you "caught a cold" - there is also viral cystitis, postcoital cystitis, which manifests itself after sexual intercourse, and even psychogenic cystitis. Treatment and prevention for different types, as you understand, will be completely different.
- Remember that traditional methods, baths and grandmother's herbal infusions are not the first thing to use for cystitis. They can be useful adjuncts, but first-line drugs should be selected by a doctor. That is, chamomile decoction or cranberry juice will undoubtedly relieve the symptoms - but not eliminate them! Trying to suppress the manifestations of the disease with herbs, girls often themselves cause the transition of cystitis to a chronic form.
- Cystitis is one of the infamous sluggish diseases. If it is poorly or incorrectly treated the first time, cystitis tends to turn into a chronic form, from which many women suffer for years. To prevent this from happening, it is extremely important to complete the entire course of treatment and strictly follow the doctors' instructions.

How to help yourself at home with cystitis
Once again, we must warn you: we are writing about these methods purely for familiarization.
- The first and most important remedy that will relieve an acute attack of cystitis is the consumption of a large amount of fluid. Many believe that with a cyst, you need to drink less water, then the pain and other manifestations will go away, but this is a mistaken opinion!
- These home remedies will help reduce the intensity of pain and discomfort:
St. John's wort Pour 1 tbsp. spoon of St. John's wort herb with a glass of boiling water, boil for 15 minutes. Allow to infuse for 40-60 minutes, strain. Drink 1/4 cup three times a day for a month. Blueberry. Pour 2 tsp. spoons of lingonberry leaves with a glass of boiling water. Boil over low heat for 15 minutes, cool and strain. Drink in small sips throughout the day. The course is 7-10 days.

It is important not to forget: all medicinal herbs, as well as other means of folk medicine, also have many contraindications and side effects! If the case is more severe, and the pain is unbearable, urgently seek professional medical help. In no case should you take antibacterial drugs on your own, only those prescribed by a doctor after confirming the diagnosis!

How to prevent cystitis
- Do not sit in the cold, dress warmly and refrain from icy showers in autumn and winter.
- During menstruation, change pads or tampons every two hours, before washing your hands thoroughly.
- Try to stick to a proper diet: minimize spicy, fatty, fried, spicy, salty, sour, pickled products and alcohol.
- Drink at least 2 liters of liquid per day - it provides the body with timely detoxification, which includes the fight against pathogenic microorganisms.
- Watch for normal and regular bowel movements and try to wash every time (in the direction from the genitals, not towards them).
- Do sports or at least take a 10-minute daily walk (don't forget warm clothes).
