Palm Sunday: without some kind of cookie, this holiday will not be real

Palm Sunday is one of the 12 most significant church holidays. As a nation, we respect and love this holiday very much, it has many very old traditions. Some of them are well known, while others were invented, as it were, in order to give this holiday a special charm.

On Palm Sunday, our great-great-grandmothers always baked special cookies. It was believed that it brings happiness to the house. Do you want to join one of the oldest traditions? Write down the recipe.

There is a long-standing tradition of baking a personal cookie during Palm Sunday. His recipe does not violate the canons of fasting: it is prepared without eggs and animal fat. Here is a very simple and quite tasty recipe for such cookies.

For the dough: a glass of beer (don't be afraid, it is not felt at all in the finished form) and a glass of sunflower oil, flour - "how much" the dough will take. That is, exactly enough so that the dough does not stick to the hands, if more - the cookies will turn out to be hard, less - it will not be possible to mold the dough.

The dough must be rolled out thinly, the thickness of the cake is no more than 4-5 mm, after which cut circles. In the middle put the filling to taste: it can be jam, raisins or candied fruit. You can also wrap the cake so that it looks like a willow earring. Or pinched with a "basket". Bake at a temperature of 180 degrees, sprinkle with powdered sugar after cooling. This cookie, by the way, can be consecrated on Palm Sunday together with willow twigs.

What should be prepared on the eve of Palm Sunday. On Saturday, which is called Lazareva (in memory of the resurrection of Jesus Christ's friend Lazarus), special loaves are baked. There should be as many of them as there are people in the family. Everyone has a loaf of bread. The hostess hid a coin in one of the loaves, and the one who got it was considered to be marked with good luck for the entire next hour. If this happiness fell to a girl for marriage, it was believed that she would marry very quickly and very successfully.
