

A book about the first contact with epilepsy appeared in Ukraine. What is it and how to get it

On March 26, the world celebrates "Purple Day" - epilepsy awareness day. Ukraine does not stand aside from educational events and publishes a book about the first contact with epilepsy.

This book is based on materials from the epileptologist team at The Hospital for Sick Children (Toronto, Canada) and materials from the AboutKidsHealth Epilepsy Resource Center. The book was developed jointly by the Ukrainian anti-epileptic league (doctors' association) and the public organization "Epiprosvyta" (patient organization). The creation and printing became possible thanks to the charitable assistance of Farmak JSC.
A total of 10000 copies were printed and sent to hospitals throughout Ukraine. There is also an online version that can be obtained by filling out this form An application.

Let us remind you that, according to unofficial data, more than 600 people in Ukraine suffer from epilepsy, which makes it one of the most common neurological diseases. In total, more than 55 to 65 million people suffer from epilepsy in the world, and in one way or another they face it - much more.
The number of patients in Ukraine is growing daily, because war, injuries, infections, cerebrovascular accidents cause the appearance of this disease, and such factors as lack of sleep, stress, irregular medication intake cause the appearance of resistance to treatment. It is important to add that most medical services and a significant amount of drugs are free for people with epilepsy.
