Support of defenders and defenders in rehabilitation: adaptive clothing for the wounded

The war continues, and those who have been wounded and need support in recovery are becoming more and more. Therefore, on the initiative of PUIB, the "We are of one blood" project launched a new line of clothing "Live on the side", which gives every Ukrainian the opportunity to support defenders in rehabilitation.

Many wounded soldiers need adaptive clothing - with velcro and buttons, additional slits and sewn according to special patterns, so that the wounded can get dressed without difficulty.

The commander of the sapper detachment and popularizer of adaptive clothing "Unbreakable Pohuy" Yuri Gudimenko, who was seriously wounded at the front, shared his own experience to make clothes for the wounded as comfortable and functional as possible.

"When you are wounded, your clothes are cut off with Esmarch's scissors, you remain naked on the operating table. And when you return from the operating table to the ward, it is quite likely that the usual clothes no longer suit you. And you want to wear something... I want to be dressed normally, because clothing is protection. Clothes are warmth, which is currently lacking in hospitals. Clothing is to feel like a person, not a patient, not a sick person, not a cripple, but a person." — notes Yury Gudymenko.

Also for the launch of the "Live Towards" line other military personnel, who know from their own experience the challenges of treatment after severe injuries, also joined: this is a defender of Mariupol from the "Heart of Azovstal" project Vladyslav Zhayvoronok (call sign "Wikipedia"), who lost a leg in the war, and a veteran Vladyslav Eshchenko, who lost his sight after the injury.Joined to the projectsilver medalist of the Paralympic Games in Tokyo 2020 and multiple champion of the world and Europe in wheelchair fencing Natalia Morkvich. All they supported the launch of a collection of adaptive clothing to inspire those who are currently struggling with the consequences of injury.

The coordination of the delivery of adaptive clothing to hospitals and evacuation trains was undertaken by the head of the project for the evacuation of the wounded of the "Kolo" charitable foundation Iryna Soloshenko. Charity Fund "Kolo" in fact, from the beginning of the medical evacuation, he joined Ukrzaliznytsia in the conversion of wagons for the wounded and took a direct part in the creation of the world's first resuscitation wagon.

The "Live towards each other" collection has two lines of products:

for wounded soldiers — adaptive clothes with motivational prints;

for every Ukrainian - hoodies, shirts, t-shirts with laconic embroidery and lines from the poet's poems Sergey Zhadan: «The main thing is to keep your faith, your love and your stubbornness with you","No matter where we all came from. The main thing is that we stayed here", "No one knows how love works. But it works, try to stop it."

These and other quotes Wanted Ukrainian artist and tattoo artist Maria Fedorovna turned in graphic compositions, he added to the design of birds — messengers of life, grass, the sun, angels, hearts and other elements. Thanks to them, the items of the collection literally "speak" words of support and love.

Line of clothes "Live to meet » is the beginning of a movement in the direction of creating equal opportunities for all. After all, full inclusion is possible only when everyone moves towards it: the state, business, society, civil society, military and war veterans.

For each order from the new collection, one adaptive item will be delivered to the defenders wounded in the war through the charitable foundation "Kolo", their volunteer curators in evacuation trains and hospitals. Also on the project website "We are of the same blood" everyone can pay one orseveral units of clothing for the wounded. Each item was tested at the National Military Medical Clinical Center "Main Military Clinical Hospital".
