NGO Dignity Online (by #stop_sexting) received an international award for its contribution to protecting children online

This week in London, Anastasia Dyakova, founder of the NGO Dignity Online (by #stop_sexting), received the Excellence in Global Online Protection – Special Recognition Award, an international distinction presented to leaders from around the world for their outstanding contributions to protecting children from online threats.
This year, the organizers created a special nomination to recognize the unique approach and systematic work of the Ukrainian team. The awards ceremony took place in London in the presence of over 300 leading experts in the field of child protection.
What is behind this award?
Since 2017, the Dignity Online team has built a multi-sectoral system in Ukraine to respond to online threats to children, involving state institutions, the Verkhovna Rada, business, international organizations, experts, as well as the school, social, and law enforcement systems.
"This award is international recognition of how one idea, supported by a team and a caring community, can change the child protection system in an entire country," – notes Anastasia Dyakova.
Among the organization's key achievements:
- About a million professionals, parents, and children have been trained by the organization on various topics related to online safety – from online quests that are dangerous for children's lives, to combating online sexual violence and recruitment.
- The team initiated and successfully advocated for legislative changes in parliament, which resulted in the criminalization of online grooming and possession and viewing of child sexual abuse material.
- In 2019, thanks to building cooperation at the international level, the first international portal for reporting such materials, the Internet Watch Foundation, was launched in Ukraine, and over the years, more than 10 pages containing such content have been removed and blocked.
- In 2020, in cooperation with the Government Contact Center, a single online child safety hotline was created and continues to operate actively, having already provided assistance to over 1000 families.
- The team constantly implements all-Ukrainian information campaigns that reach 400 million and include not only media work, but also creative formats, such as a podcast with Walt Disney.
- Every two years, Dignity Online conducts national research on online child safety. It also collaborates with technology leaders such as TikTok, UBS bank, Kyivstar, and others.
