The Ronald McDonald House Foundation is an organization that supports families with seriously ill children in Ukraine. During 2024, the Foundation provided support in the amount of over 43 million UAH, organized free accommodation in Family Rooms, and began construction of the first Ronald McDonald House in Ukraine on the territory of the Okhmatdyt Children's Home.

Family rooms — so that parents and children can be together in hospitals

When a child spends a lot of time in the hospital, the most valuable thing for the family is the opportunity to be there. That is why the Ronald McDonald House Foundation is equipping children's hospitals across Ukraine Family rooms, so that families can be togetherThese programs operate in hospitals in Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Lviv, and Rivne (the program in Kharkiv and Sumy is currently temporarily suspended).

Family rooms have the most modern amenities: spacious living rooms, kitchens with appliances, children's corners with toys and books, some rooms have showers and laundry facilities, in hospitals in Rivne and Sumy - separate bedrooms with private bathrooms, families are offered snacks and hot drinks.

Parents can stay here as long as the child's treatment requires. Accommodation and use of all amenities for families are free. In 2024, 9 families visited the Family Rooms 945 times. Over the entire duration of the program, 77 families visited 564 times.

Ronald McDonald House - a "home away from home" for families with sick children

A developed version of architectural and planning solutions for construction Ronald McDonald House on the territory of the Okhmatdyt National Recreation Area, which was approved by the Urban Planning Council under the Department of Urban Planning and Architecture of the Kyiv City State Administration for further design.

The next steps will be obtaining initial data and carrying out direct design work, followed by a comprehensive project assessment. Obtaining a permit for construction and installation work and starting construction of the Ronald McDonald House are scheduled for the 4th quarter of 2025. 

Ronald McDonald House with an estimated area of ​​3,5 thousand sq. m. for 50 rooms is planned on the territory of the largest national children's specialized hospital of Ukraine "Okhmatdyt". The program will provide comfort, support and resources for families with hospitalized children on the territory of the hospital, so that nothing distracts them from the most important thing - the treatment of the child. There are 385 such programs worldwide, in Ukraine it will be the first.
