Easter 2025: what date does the most important spring holiday fall on?

Easter, the main Christian holiday, marks the hope for a bright future for all who believe. The date of Easter is floating, calculated every year according to a special formula.
In 2025, Easter falls on April 20, which is a Sunday, as it is every year. The calculation of the date of Easter is based on the lunisolar calendar, in simplified terms, Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon that occurs no earlier than the vernal equinox. There are quite complex formulas and calculation algorithms that take into account many other factors.
EASTER AND THE END OF LENT
Saturday, April 19, marks the end of Great Lent, the most difficult and multi-day period of moderation. Those who observe Lent in particular abstain from all animal food for 7 weeks and regularly attend church services, abstaining from all entertainment for 48 days.

The last 6 days of Lent are called Holy Week and symbolize the last days of Christ's earthly life. In 2025, Holy Week will last from April 13 to 20 - from Monday to Saturday. This week is dedicated to the remembrance of the events of the last days of Christ's earthly life (the Passion of Christ), his betrayal, his trial, his journey to Golgotha, and his crucifixion.
Already on Sunday, April 20, all Orthodox Christians will greet each other with the traditional words "Christ is risen," to which they must respond "Truly he is risen." Bans on any food are lifted, and it is not only possible, but necessary, to have fun and rejoice.
True, doctors warn that if you have strictly adhered to fasting for 7 weeks, you should exit it gradually and not load your body with a large amount of food that it is used to, all at once.

HOW EASTER IS CELEBRATED
Bright Sunday is the day when it is worth attending the festive Easter church service first of all. The celebration begins on the night from Saturday to Sunday, many people are ready to stand all night, but more often they practice visiting church on the morning of Bright Sunday, when they bring Easter products for consecration.
The Easter basket usually contains Easter cakes (and it doesn't matter whether the hostess baked the Easter cake herself or bought it ready-made) and Easter eggs, baked meat and any other products. It is with these products that the breaking of the fast usually begins - that is, consecrated food must be present on the festive table.
