Developing diction: 55 best tongue twisters for children

Content
ToggleCorrect and clear pronunciation is one of the most important skills that a child needs on a daily basis. Of course, at an early age, toddlers do not pronounce all the letters very well, so it takes time to learn to say everything correctly. Our tongue twisters for children will help with this, learning which will turn the lesson into an interesting game.
Tongue twisters are considered a very effective method of training a child's speech apparatus (the development of the speech apparatus is necessary for correct sound pronunciation); they also contribute to the development of diction and correct, clear speech.
How are tongue twisters useful for a child?
Although tongue twisters for children are necessarily read quickly, they teach the child to pronounce phrases more slowly, without "eating" the endings, so that they are understood.
By learning tongue twisters, a child learns to be thoughtful about what he or she is saying, to weigh each word, to feel the connection between phrases, and to pick up on very subtle nuances in intonation, meaning, and significance.
The child also learns not only to speak, but also to listen. This is very useful and will come in handy at school, when the teacher gives out a lot of different information.
But it's important to remember that in order for tongue twisters to be beneficial for children, it's important not to forget that for children, they are primarily a game, not a lesson. What's the best way to learn them so that it brings joy to both the child and you?
One, two, three, four, five – let's start learning!
Tongue twisters were invented exclusively for speaking aloud.
First, you demonstrate to your child how to say the tongue twister clearly and beautifully, and then you begin to learn the rhyme together. Remember: in tongue twisters, it is important to make the consonant sounds a little longer and the vowels a little shorter.
- First, say the tongue twister very slowly and clearly, breaking it into syllables. Let your child try to repeat the text as closely as possible to your pronunciation.
The goal of the first step is to learn tongue twisters correctly. Pay attention to the child's clear pronunciation of all sounds: both vowels and consonants. It is very important at this stage to avoid incorrect pronunciation of any of them. Now you are learning both words and pronunciation. - After this stage is successfully completed and the child has learned the text and can pronounce it correctly, learn to do the same thing, but in silent mode. Now only the articulatory apparatus is working - no voice, just the lips, tongue, and teeth.
- The third step is reading the tongue twister in a whisper. It is very important that it is in a whisper, and not hissing or quietly, that the child can clearly and intelligibly pronounce the entire phrase.
- Now have the child say the text out loud, but slowly. By the way, the entire phrase, without mistakes, but not in a hurry.
- Play with the intonation of your pronunciation: affirmative, interrogative, exclamatory, sad and joyful, thoughtful, aggressive, singing, in different voices. It is also very useful in terms of developing acting skills.
- And now it's time to have a competition for the best result: say the entire tongue twister quickly and without mistakes. Invite the child to repeat it three times.
